People in the Sherwood area of Shawnee County may be getting a new water pumping system soon.
The Shawnee County Commission was given a presentation on the preliminary study on the Sherwood Pump Station replacement project.
Director of Public Works Tom Vlach says the project is necessary because the system is aging. He also says it has nothing to do with development.
The project will cost about $3 million, but Vlach says residents in the area shouldn't expect to see their bill go up anytime soon because they have funds that have been accumulated from money received from sewer bills for the project.
Vlach hopes to get the project approved in the coming weeks and to begin construction next year.
