A Topeka Municipal Court judge is moving to a new bench.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius Wednesday named Cheryl Rios-Kingfisher as a judge for Shawnee County's Third Judicial District. She's currently Associate Municipal Court presiding judge for the city of Topeka.
“Cheryl's broad range of experience and active involvement in her community will serve the people of Shawnee County well,” Sebelius said in a statement.
Rios-Kingfisher earned her nursing degrees from Washburn University and St. Mary of the Plains University before going on to receive her juris doctorate from the Washburn University School of Law.
Rios-Kingfisher replaces retiring judge Matthew Dowd.
