Study Links Dropout and Crime Rates

Attorney General Steve Six along with Kansas City, Missouri Chief James Corwin, Overland Park Chief John Douglass, and Lenexa Chief Ellen Hanson released a new report linking high school dropout rates and violent crime and murder.

High school dropouts are 3 1/2 times more likely to be arrested an 8 times more likely to be incarcerated according to the study.

It also says 40% of students fail to graduate high school on time in Kansas City Area.

The study also suggest a high-quality pre-kindergarten program is the best way to fight dropout rates.
