TOPEKA, Kan. - The Topeka Police Accident Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate a Wednesday late afternoon accident that injured a 17-month old Topeka boy.
Topeka Police were called to the 2000 block of SW Clay in reference to an injury accident involving the child and a vehicle just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. The child had been in the front yard/sidewalk area of his residence but had apparently gone to the driveway/sidewalk area of a neighboring home. The neighbor, who at that time was backing towards the street from her driveway, backed into the child.
Topeka Police say the child, Elijah J. Segundo, 17 months, Topeka, was taken by private vehicle to a local hospital and then transported by Lifestar to a Kansas City area hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening. His condition is considered critical at this time.
The Accident Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and asks that anyone with information call Sgt. Don O’Dell at 368-9487.
