WASHINGTON (AP) _ The head of the Republican Party's congressional campaign arm says Kansas' 3rd District is a prime target for ousting a Democratic incumbent.

Oklahoma Rep. Tom Cole was in Lenexa and Olathe to campaign for GOP House candidate Nick Jordan, who is taking on Democratic Rep. Dennis Moore this fall.

Cole and Jordan visited local businesses struggling with increased fuel costs. Jordan, a state senator, is making energy costs one of the key issues in his campaign.

Cole and other Republican leaders have been pushing Democrats for a vote to open up more coastal areas to oil and gas exploration.
