WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Kansas physician and his wife will be back in court Wednesday to answer a new indictment linking their clinic with the accidental drug overdose deaths of 58 patients.
The superseding indictment filed against Dr. Stephen Schneider and his wife, nurse Linda Schneider, adds two more accidental deaths tied to the Schneider Medical Clinic in Haysville.
Prosecutors also now allege the couple contributed to the deaths of at least 21 patients and directly caused four others.
The new indictment still includes 34 counts, plus seeks forfeiture of assets. However, the government is no longer charging some of those counts under federal statutes dealing with money laundering.
