Topeka High School students got an early break Tuesday.
A four inch water main broke in the morning, flooding the wrestling room in the school's basement and forcing the school to send students home at 9 am.
School officials say they think recent construction for water line replacement may have been to blame. A joint connecting a new pipe with an old pipe apparently gave way.
The area had served as a swimming pool until 2004.
Officials estimate there was at least 175,000 gallons of flood water.
Crews have repaired the line and are pumping the water out. School is expected to resume as usual Wednesday.
