TOPEKA, Kan. - Topeka Police Detectives are asking for assistance from the public in solving a past Homicide that occurred in East Topeka.
On July 1, 2008 at 3:05 am, Topeka Police Officers were dispatched to 1419 SE 10th reference a shooting. When officers arrived they were directed by a female on the corner of 10th and Locust to a black male lying in the grassy area just south of the southwest corner of 10th and Locust.
The victim was Rodney Tyrone Jennings II, 21, of Topeka. He had been shot and was bleeding and unresponsive.
Jennings was being attended by a female who identified herself as the victim’s girl friend.
The girlfriend stated she was inside the residence when she heard a couple of loud bangs. She went outside and observed a Red Ford Escort southbound on Locust which turned west. The girlfriend then observed something on the grass and realized it was her boyfriend.
