HAYS, Kan. (AP) _ A Fort Hays State University debate coach's job could be in jeopardy after his profanity-laced exchange with another coach.

William Shanahan has taught at Fort Hays State since 1999 and led its debate team to a national championship in 1999.

A video showing Shanahan arguing with University of Pittsburgh debate coach Shanara Reid-Brinkley was posted on YouTube on August 2nd. It has generated more than 100,000 hits.

The argument took place in March at the Cross Examination Debate Association quarterfinals in Wichita.

The exchange appears to be at least in part about race. The Fort Hays team excluded Reid-Brinkley, who is black, from being a judge.

Fort Hays State provost Larry Gould says the university is considering several options, including firing Shanahan.
