More police officers, troopers and deputies will be on the roads.

They are stepping up their efforts to catch drunk drivers as part of "STEP," that's the special traffic enforcement program.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is being joined by more than 100 agencies throughout the state. They'll be on the roads in extra numbers starting Thursday through Labor Day weekend.

Statistics show an average of six people are injured or killed in Kansas every Labor Day due to alcohol-related crashes.
