Tree Planted to Honor Fallen Topeka Firefighter

One year ago Wednesday, Topeka lost a 21-year fire fighting veteran in the line of duty.

To remember Capt. Tony Cox, firefighters planted a tree on the southeast side of Topeka fire station number 8, where Cox was last stationed. Cox was remembered in a private ceremony between his immediate family and members of his extended fire department family.

Cox died August 13th, 2007. He suffered a heart attack while fighting an apartment fire.
