FORT RILEY, Kan. - As the summer winds down, it is time to think about heating your home for the winter.
Fort Riley allows fuel wood cutting with the purchase of a $25 permit at the Outdoor Rec Center located at Building 9011 or the Conservation Office in Bldg. 407 on post. Individuals are allowed to cut any wood already down on the ground.
Once the permit is purchased, individuals have 90 days to cut two cords of wood. A cord is a stack of 4 feet high by 4 feet wide by 8 feet long.
Cutting is allowed year round during regular daylight hours.
