Before the students go back to classes, Topeka's new district chief wants a word or two with faculty in a series of "meet and greets" that began Monday night.

Staff of Topeka Public Schools met new USD 501 superintendent Dr. Kevin Singer at Highland Park High School in stop one.

Singer said district leaders have already gone to work fine tuning this year's budget and are working on tightening up the budget for next year.

The next two meet and greets with Dr. Singer are Wednesday at Topeka West and Thursday at Topeka High. The sessions will run from 4 to 6 pm.
