TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ The state has updated its 30-year-old program for promoting Kansas agricultural products.
The revised program at the Department of Commerce will be known as ``Simply Kansas.''
The department has launched a Web site, with a directory of products, and a new quarterly newsletter. Also, judges from industry and the Department of Commerce will examine the products. Items are eligible for the brand name if 75 percent of their ingredients are Kansas-based.
Commerce spokesman Joe Monaco says the department isn't trying to limit what receives the Simply Kansas logo but to make sure it goes on good products.
He said state and industry officials felt it was time to update the program, formerly known as ``From the Land of Kansas.''
