Years of wear and tear can make any room look tired...but getting a lawmaking chamber back to its glory is an art in itself.
The senate houses millions of dollars worth of copper and marble that are original to the chamber. Even the desks the senators still sit in today are original to the room.
What's amazing about some of the beautiful architecture is not only it's aesthetic beauty, but it's function. The amazing and detailed copper columns around the room catch the eye with hammered flowers and vines winding around them. But those same columns hide the duct work that kept the air circulating in the room and later housed the modern-day utilities.
That's just some of the amazing things we learned on our tour of the Senate chambers. Take a look!
