Kids aren't the only ones preparing themselves for the end of summer, parents are also getting ready to send their students back to school.
To help with the back to school process Whitson Elementary hosted a special Comer parent retreat Thursday night.
The Comer program stemmed from research at Yale University and provides training for parents and educators on raising children.
The Comer school program uses a metaphor of six developmental pathways to characterize the lines along which children mature. Those are physical, cognitive, psychological, language, social and ethical.
14 area schools partner with the Comer program and Washburn University.
