A Topeka police officer was attacked early Monday morning after a fight broke out. It happened in the 1200 block of N. Eugene at about 12:30a.m.
Authorities report that officers were called to the area after a group of people in front of the home were causing a loud disturbance. When the first officer arrived on the scene there appeared to be a fight between a male and a female.
The officer tried to restrain the man, who police later identified as Alan Lewis, another man began striking the officer. He was able to call for help over the radio but he had to tase one of the attackers in an attempt to avoid further harm.
When other officers arrived they were able to get the fight under control. Lewis was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Jail.
Lewis was arrested and booked in the SN CO Department of Corrections on charges of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer, Disorderly Conduct, Interference, Disobeying a Lawful Order, and possession of Drug Paraphernalia, while Alan Lewis (DOB 11-14-90) was arrested and booked in the SN CO DOC on charges of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer and Obstruction.
