WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A federal judge denies bond for a Wichita-area nurse accused of running a "pill mill.''
In a written ruling handed down Wednesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Donald Bostwick found that Linda Schneider is a flight risk. Bostwick cited recorded phone calls from jail in which Schneider spoke several times about her desire to go to Mexico.
Schneider is charged with her husband, Dr. Stephen Schneider, in a federal indictment linking their Haysville clinic to the accidental overdose deaths of 56 patients.
The doctor was released in April pending his trial, but his wife has been held since her arrest in December.
Bostwick said he did not base his decision on any testimony from an evidentiary hearing earlier this month. He said he did not find credible the testimony from a jailhouse informant.
