A new web site study puts Kansas at #9 out of 50 states when it comes to volunteers. The study shows 36.8 percent of the population volunteered through an organization in 2007.
Topeka did even better, ranking 6 out of 75 similar-sized cities. 40.6 percent of Topekans volunteered, compared to 39.8 percent for Lawrence and 31.7 percent for Wichita.
