With just a week and a day until the Republican primary Tuesday, August 5th there is a new ad that is causing major campaign controversy. The ad was released Monday and fliers were also mailed out.
In the ad, Jenkins accuses Ryun of choosing himself over our troops. She mentions that Ryun voted for two pay increases for himself while voting against giving a one time $1,500 bonus to soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Ryun's campaign says the claim is "grossly misleading." They argue that he did vote to give himself pay raises but not at the expense of our troops which they say Ryun voted to increase the pay for soldiers 27 times while he was in office.
Both Jim Ryun and Lynn Jenkins were on the campaign trail Monday. The republican primary is Tuesday, August 6th and the winner will face incumbent democrat Nancy Boyda. Click on the video icon above to hear more of what each party said.
