Shawnee County 4H royalty launched their reigns Thursday night.
Samantha Belsen of the Horse Club was crowned 2008 Shawnee County 4H queen in a ceremony at the Expocentre, while JaVon Martin of the Grove 4H club was named this year's king.
They were chosen from among 14 queen applicants and 6 king applicants for their leadership abilities and dedication to promoting the 4H learning experience. JaVon and Samantha succeed last year's king and queen, Colin Reynolds and Megan Patton.
The ceremony also honored the seniors graduating from 4H. Several scholarships were also awarded.

The Shawnee County Fair continues through Sunday.
