Topeka, KS (WIBW)-- Dozens of ideas were tossed around at the 3rd Heartland Visioning Task force meeting Thursday morning at the Holiday Inn Holidome.

About 120 members of the task force were present for the two hour meeting. Facilitator Henry Luke says out of all the years holding task force meetings that this one of Topeka is the most dedicated with outstanding attendance.

Issues varied but were centered around ideas for a more vitalized downtown, attracting outside business while maximizing the potential of current business and developing a riverfront area where people would want to spend time.

There were suggestions like, building a beautiful avenue that ties the downtown to the Expo Centre and Washburn University, moving the law school of Washburn University downtown and create shops and grocery stores downtown.

There was also a lot of talk on technology. It was suggested that we create more wifi hot spots, a bold suggestion was to create free wireless for the entire city limits.

Speaking of technology, Jim Ogle, General Manager of WIBW-TV & Channels used Twitter to document what was said at the meeting. You can find his notes included in this story.

The next meeting will be held next Thursday at 8AM also at the Holiday Inn Holidome. The public is welcome to attend.
