The Heritage Trust Fund is a state program that provides matching funds for the preservation of properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places or the Register of Historic Kansas Places. It is a competitive grant program, in which applicants compete for the funds that are available for that year.
To date, nearly $10 million have been awarded to projects across the state. Through the program, the Historical Society helps communities realize their preservation goals and increase interest in their historic resources. The deadline for applications for the 2009 round of grants will be March 1, 2009. The deadline for the preliminary application for staff review is January 15, 2009.
