KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) _ A Las Vegas casino operator is abandoning its bid to build a casino in Wyandotte County.
Las Vegas Sands Corp. was one of five companies vying to run a state-owned casino in the northeast Kansas county. But in a statement Tuesday night, the company said it will no longer pursue a gambling license in the state.
One major reason cited by Las Vegas Sands president William Weidner is a possible lifting of restrictions that neighboring Missouri places on the losses gamblers can incur at its floating casinos.
A measure proposed for Missouri's November ballot would repeal the state's $500 loss limit per gambler per two-hour period.
