Topeka, KS (WIBW) A man who pleaded guilty to killing another man outside a Topeka billiards club has been sentenced to over 20 years in prison.
Timothy Shahid had originally been charged with 2nd degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of Joshua Kalina.
The shooting took place outside Terry’s Billiards in Topeka on April 24, 2007.
Last month, Shahid pleaded guilty to an amended charge of voluntary
manslaughter in the heat of passion and today, he got almost 19 ½ years on that charge.
Shawnee County District Court Judge Jan Leuenberger sentenced him to an additional year on the aggravated assault charge.
After his prison sentence, Shahid will be ordered to register as a violent offender.
