TOPEKA, Kan. - The Topeka Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in finding the suspect involved in an early morning shooting outside of the Whiplash Bar and Grill Wednesday.
Police are searching for James Arthur Quall, a black man, just shy of his 24th birthday. He is six-three, 270 pounds. They were seeking his wife, Ana-Ama Brackin, 30, who is described as a person of interest. She was reportedly found Wednesday evening.
Anyone who spots Qualls is asked to call authorities at 368-9400 and to be cautious.
Police responded to Whiplash Bar & Grill at 2107 California around 1:45a.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived on the scene they found the victim, 30 year-old Joseph R. Beier Jr., on the ground inside the bar with gunshot wounds.
Beier was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
