WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Wichita woman is convicted of murder in a deadly stabbing caught on surveillance video at a convenience store.
Jurors in Sedgwick County District Court deliberated less than three hours Monday before finding Cherish McCullough guilty of first-degree murder.
Videotape showed McCullough and fellow customer LaShanda Callaway arguing at the Wichita store on June 23, 2007. The tape showed McCullough leaving the store, returning with a knife and stabbing the 27-year-old victim in the abdomen.
The defense argued McCullough acted in self-defense.
The case received attention at the time because the tape also showed at least five shoppers stepping over Callaway as she lay wounded. One customer stopped to take a picture of her with a cell phone.
