MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) _ A Geary County Sheriff's corporal helped deliver a baby after checking on a truck parked on the side of Interstate-70.
Mark Maschmeir Thursday saw the vehicle parked on the highway with its hazard lights on. He then found a woman about to give birth. Maschmeir and another deputy grabbed gloves and helped deliver the baby after calling for an ambulance.
Maschmeir's name was listed on the birth certificate as the delivery attendant. The mother also named the boy Mark.
The mother is from Manhattan but asked not to be identified.
Maschmeir normally makes drug busts on I-70.
