Many Crimes, Many Suspects Caught

44-year-old Ernest Lee Taylor was convicted July 3rd of aggravated robbery- burglary and obstructing legal process..

Taylor broke into a Topeka home while a woman was inside, he confronted her in a bedroom and threatened to shoot her. Taylor ran when sheriff deputies later spotted him in the same block as the home, but he was soon caught and arrested. He is scheduled for sentencing August 12th.

A citizen tip led to the capture Wednesday of a Wichita man -- 39-year-old Robert Abner. He's wanted in the June 23rd abduction of a convenience store clerk Joyce Patterson near Viola. Abner is accused of robbing, blindfolding and abducting 48-year-old Patterson. Forcing her to ride on the floor of the getaway car. Patterson was held at a Wichita home until her abductor had an apparent change of heart three days later and let her go. Abner was arrested at an Oregon motel early Wednesday. He's charged with kidnapping, robbery, criminal sodomy and six counts of rape.

In Manhattan... while the country stampede was fun for most. Pottawatomie County Sheriff's office had their hands full with a string of incidents.

The number one encounter for deputies at stampede was minors in possession of alcohol. Deputies made 10 arrests stampede weekend. There is also currently one reported rape under investigation.
