A summer camp with Topeka's Park & Recs stopped by WIBW-TV Thursday on their tour of Topeka.

13 teens with group Off the Hook and eight younger campers with Rice kids were on the tour. The kids are with Rice Community Center in Topeka.

Bobbie Rodriguez says the kids have been swimming, visiting local hot spots and enjoying a day at Worlds & Oceans of fun during their three months at summer camp.

Rodriguez says it's about fun but this year it's also about education. She has a goal this summer of teaching the kids about Topeka.

"It's important that they know where they come from," she said.

Places they have visited so far include the capitol building, lavender says, Ward Meade Parkway, Lake Shawnee and now WIBW-TV.

They have plans of also visiting the governor's mansion, and the museum of history.

Without bias the kids did say their favorite hot spot so far has been WIBW-TV.

"They were really impressed with the newsroom there were a lot of 'oh wow' moments in there," Rodriguez said.
