week to get the Army's highest honor for bravery off the
The 1st Infantry Division will give Private First Class Darrell
Dressler the Soldier's Medal Monday for saving two people during a
train wreck last year.
The division says on May 6th, 2007, Dressler was passing by
Grant Gate on Fort Riley when he noticed a bridge had started to
collapse. The two lead engines of the train collided and crashed
into the flooding river.
Dressler jumped a fence, scaled the bridge and helped the
engineer and conductor escape through the conductor's window.
