Lake Shawnee is catching the spirit, the Spirit of Kansas that is.
Preparations began Wednesday for the 4th of July event.
Crews were busy putting up signs, fences for parking, the arts and crafts information booth.
They parked trailers that hold the main event, the fireworks for the big display show.
The fun starts with the Customer Appreciation Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. arts and crafts festival at 10 a.m.
The waterski show starts at 6:30 p.m. and fireworks go off at 10 p.m.
Your easiest way to get to the lake for the fireworks is by catching a free shuttle from the east side of White Lakes Center at 3600 SW Topeka Boulevard.
They'll pick up from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and return as soon as the fireworks are finished.
We'll be out there live for our newscasts at 4, 5, and 6.
