TOPEKA, Kan. - The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office arrested Eric T. Howard, 38, of Topeka on Friday, June 20th for theft.
Friday afternoon an off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy, while on his way to work, spotted Howard’s vehicle, a white Ford Explorer in a rural part of northern Shawnee County and began to follow the vehicle.
The Deputy was alerted to the vehicle do to the suspicious nature of the activity. The Deputy attempted to follow Howard but lost him. Sheriff’s Deputies did recover some mail Howard threw from his vehicle as he was being followed. Deputies located Howard in the early morning hours the next day and took him into custody.
Howard is suspected of numerous thefts, including mail from residences and methamphetamine activity. The mail theft case is being turned over to the US Postal Inspector’s office.
