Another Vehicle Involved in Fatal Accident that Killed 1, Injured 4

EUREKA, Kan. - A Kansas community is mourning the death of a teen in a car accident.

A Toyota 4Runner carrying five teens was traveling north on "P" Road five miles south of Eureka just before midnight Friday, June 20. The Greenwood County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting an injury accident on P Road just south of 90th Street.

Greenwood County Sheriff's deputies say they believe Cassi Bechtle, 16, lost control of the SUV due in part to an approaching vehicle. The two vehicles met at or near a hillcrest.

The SUV rolled, ejecting all five teens. Jace Ross, 15, died at the scene.

Cassi is listed in stable and fair condition. Dakota Brubaker, 15, is also listed in fair condition. Jessie Osborn, 16, is listed as serious critical condition and Tyler Thole, 16, is listed in critical condition.

All four were life flighted to Wichita from the Greenwood County Hospital.

There is no information on the other vehicle thought to be involved in the accident.

The Greenwood County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
