Ft. Riley Solider Shoots Friend & Fellow Soldier

Junction City Police report that a Ft. Riley soldier shot his friend and fellow soldier in a vehicle in Junction City while handling a gun.

Police say the incident happened at 12:47AM Saturday morning in a parking lot on the 900 block of N. Washington in Junction City.

Officers arrived and found a 20-year-old Ft. Riley soldier with a gunshot wound to his back. After interviewing witnesses they determined that he was shot by a friend sitting in the passenger seat handling a gun.

The victim whose name is not being released until his family is notified was rushed to Geary Community Hospital.

22-year-old Domonique Day was arrested and charged with aggravated battery in the case and is confined in lieu of bond at the Geary County Sheriff's Office.

We are working our sources to get an update on the victim's condition, also in contact with those at Ft. Riley to try to get more specific details.
