Young People Learn About Empowerment

Young people with disabilities are being empowered to make their marks on the world.

The Kansas Youth Empowerment Academy is going on this week at Washburn University.

The academy teach high school juniors and seniors with disabilities leadership, advocacy and goal setting skills.

A lunch with community mentors highlighted Thursday's activities.

Cort Hughes was presented the Justin Cosco scholarship award as the outstanding youth leader.

13's Melissa Brunner was the emcee for Thursday's luncheon.
