Group Discusses Elder Abuse

Keeping senior citizens from becoming victims was the goal of one gathering Wednesday afternoon.

The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging hosted and educational forum to mark worldwide elder abuse awareness day. Organizers say it is a problem that needs attention.

April Maddox with JAAA says many people don't speak or even think about the problem. She added that many seniors are embarrassed when they become victims.
