Community First expected a new 60-day contract to be approved by the city on Tuesday, giving them time to raise funds to turn the Sumner School into a private school.
It did not happen, despite near unanimous support from council members at last week's meeting.
There are two reasons behind it. First, putting the issue on the agenda Tuesday would have required six members present. Only five council members attended Tuesday's meeting.
Also, Community First is hoping to partner with Urban Developers, a group they hope provides a great deal of the money they need. Attorneys for Urban Developers, as well as Community First are looking over the contract.
The issue is expected to be looked at next week.
Last week, the Council reported Community First is not close to having the required money.
