Three people were arrested at Lake Shawnee over the weekend on suspicion of making methamphetamine, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff's office.
They say deputies responded to a public camp site at Lake Shawnee to complaints of people being loud.
One of the men at the campsite, Lavern Schmidtberger Jr., was reported to have been arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.
Deputy Pipkin, speaking for the Sheriff's office, said the deputies received permission to search a trailer that was on the scene. He also said deputies found suspicious items in the trailer and another vehicle at the scene, including anhydrous ammonia in non-approved containers, allegedly used to have been used to make meth, and other paraphernalia related to the illegal drug.
Also arrested on charges relating to the drug paraphernalia was Lela Schmidtberger and Joseph Adams.
Sheriff's narcotics officers, Shawnee Heights Fire, and the Topeka Fire Haz-mat team all helped at the scene.
