Days after announcing his retirement, Shawnee County Information Technology and Emergency Communications Director Bill Singer made a bid for a new job.
Singer filed Monday as a Republican candidate for Shawnee County Treasurer. Singer said Friday he'd be retiring from his current position August 1st.
Singer says his candidacy is nothing against incumbent Treasurer Larry Wilson, a Democrat. Singer says he simply feels he could continue to serve by advancing technology in the Treasurer's office to make it run more effectively and efficiently.
Singer spent 24 years as an officer in the Marine Corps, the last year overseeing the $400 million budget of the Marine Corps Reserve. He's worked for Shawnee County the past 13 years.
