Hunger Banquet Teaches Students Lesson

It was a banquet where some people didn't get very much food.

Washburn University helds a "Hunger Banquet" at the Memorial Union Thursday. Area high school students were invited to attend and experience a dramatization of poverty.

Guests were assigned different roles representing different income levels around the world. What each guest was served for lunch depended on their role - some had more than they could eat, while others didn't have any food at all.

The Rotary Youth Leadership Academy sponsored the lunch.
