Topeka, KS -- Crews were called to a scaffolding accident at the Highway Patrol Headquarters around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Two people were injured and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It is unknown at this time if the men were harnessed to the scaffolding as they should have been. They were performing repairs to the building. The workers were employed by Jayhawk Tower Partners, LLC.

It is not known why the scaffolding fell.

The remaining scaffolding was being propped up by poles the Fire Department brought with them, as well as the building.

A crane was called in, and lowered the remaining scaffolding to the ground around 6:15 p.m.
