TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) _ A judge has taken the state to task for its treatment of a patient at a unit for sexual predators at Larned State Hospital.
Patient Mark Brull has complained about conditions there. Now he contends he's being harassed by hospital staff. The Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, which operates the hospital and the unit, denies the allegation.
Last month, staff there searched Brull's room and seized papers. Brull complained through his lawyer and the search was halted.
Shawnee County District Judge Frank Yeomans ordered SRS to return the papers, which it did.
Brull is suing SRS over conditions at the hospital. The case is scheduled to go to trial in Shawnee County in September.
