(Topeka, KS)-- At 4:30 p.m. Sunday Topeka Police responded to Heartland Park, 7530 SW Topeka, reference a vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot.

A pick-up was leaving the parking area in a south westerly direction, when it went on to the gravel portion of the road where four people were walking, striking two people.

A 55-year-old female from Oklahoma was transported by AMR to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital.

It was reported that she was trapped underneath the vehicle and had to be extricated.

A 52-year-old man, also from Oklahoma, was life-flighted to KU Med hospital with injuries considered to be life-threatening.

The 63-year-old male driver of the pick-up and his passenger, were not injured.

Witness Creasa Thompson says that first responders did a great job getting to the scene, "They did a WONDERFUL job of trying to save the woman & the man. I know the woman died upon arrival at the hospital but had Emergency personnel not already been at HPT, I’m sure they both would have died right there at HPT."
