A local spelling bee champ has ended her national journey for the spelling crown.
Emporia Middle School student Nishat Yasmin was one of 148 spelling bee champions to make it to the second round of the Scripps-Howard National Spelling Bee.
This morning Nishat incorrectly spelled "piquancy." In case you're wondering, is spelled p-i-q-u-a-n-c-y..
Nishat won the state spelling bee in April.
