Couple Shot In KC, Infant Survives

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Police are investigating the shooting deaths of a couple in their Independence home.

A man and woman, both in their 20s, were discovered inside the house Wednesday after the shooting at about 3:45 p.m. An infant found at the scene was taken into custody of state child welfare workers.

Police spokesman Tom Gentry said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man died at a hospital. Their names and details about what happened haven’t been released. Gentry said murder-suicide hasn’t been ruled out.
