Fort Riley Soldier Killed in Hit and Run

Pfc. Howard A. Jones Jr., 35, died from injuries he sustained when he was struck by a hit and run driver May 18 in Chicago while on block leave.

Jones was an infantryman assigned to 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

His home of record is Chicago.

He entered the Army in February 2007. Jones returned from a deployment to Iraq in April 2008.

Not including Jones’ death, the current number of Fort Riley servicemembers who died while serving in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom is 149.
