A 94-year-old Americus man died while conducting a controlled burn.
KVOE in Emporia reports Carl Kayser of 2659 road "F" was burning just North of his farmstead around 9:30 Thursday morning.
It's unclear exactly how Kayser died, but investigators say he was apparently crushed to death by equipment that fell on him. They also say the fire Kayser started burned out of control, destroying a boxcar and small shed before firefighters arrived.
Sheriff's deputies are still investigating.
