WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ A Wichita fifth-grader is representing Kansas in this week's National Geographic Bee in Washington D.C.
Eleven-year-old Trevor Eggenberger will join 54 other state-level winners in the preliminary rounds beginning Tuesday.
The final round Wednesday will be aired on the National Geographic Channel.
The Central Christian Academy student won the state geography bee last month after qualifying by winning his school's competition in December.
The winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship and lifetime membership in the National Geographic Society.
Eggenberger will be among the youngest competitors -- the contest is open to children from fifth to eighth grades.
