USD 437 honors outstanding and retiring teachers

Some special educators are being recognized for their service to the Auburn-Washburn school district.

The district held its Patriot Award presentation Monday night recognizing its retirees, staff with 25 years of service to the district, and its five distinguished staff award winners.

Among them, Washburn Rural Middle School social studies teacher Dan Brooks.

"I work with so many wonderful teachers. There are so many great teachers in education, so many wonderful teachers in the Auburn-Washburn school district that I just feel like I am representing them," said Brooks.

the other distinguished staff award winners are washburn rural high school's paula ackerman - the middle school's mary ann adams - pauline south intermediate's annette cavanaugh - and lynda weaver..
